On Sunday night we had a baby shower planned for Chelsea, who is part of our family and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of her 4th baby – little Preslie – who was supposed to be born on Monday! We were all thrilled when Preslie arrived a full week early – healthy, beautiful and as sweet as they come. We still had a party on Sunday, but it was a bonus baby shower – one where we got to hold and snuggle the baby instead of dreaming of how she’d look in all the pretty clothes that were being passed around.
One thing that always makes it to baby showers around here are these amazing muslin baby blankets. We seriously love them so much that since we first discovered them, every new mother in our family has been given them as a gift.
There are a LOT of things that make them incredible…
First, receiving blankets are often small. Which is okay for the first week, but babies grow so fast that those little receiving blankets don’t do much good for long. And they’re never ANY good for covering…things that need to be covered….babies and mothers alike.
These blankets are big – big enough that I still use them every day with my 7-month old, who is not…well…newborn size anymore. Proof:
That’s 17 pounds of 7-month-old kissableness right there. Sophie (my baby) sleeps with these, nurses with these, plays on these and does everything else with these. She has since her very first day. We love them.
Also receiving blankets as they’re known are made from thick cotton. These are not. They feel more like super soft, breathable sheets than thick blankets. Perfect for summertime babies…although Sophie was born in the winter and like I said – we use them all the time, so….perfect for every season!! I never worry about the blanket covering her face (which for some reason babies like), or getting all wrapped around her in bed because they’re so thin!
Something I love about these blankets that adds nothing to their function is how pretty they are. Sometimes don’t you see baby stuff and think it’s so weird? Sometimes they put the weirdest graphics on baby clothes and baby gear. The designs on these blankets are so simple and sweet…I’m telling you…they’re perfect.
I don’t feel like I’m even close to doing these blankets justice. I will just way – try them out….you’ll love them. The person you buy them for will love them. The baby you snuggle them will love them. (Although that baby will be just as snuggly no matter WHAT you’ve got it wrapped in!)
You can find them at Amazon.com – that’s where we bought them. They are called: Aden by aden + anais 100% Cotton Muslin Swaddle Blanket.
And if I haven’t convinced you they’re amazing yet, let Preslie do it…this is her all wrapped up in one…
Ahhhhhh…she’s so perfect. I am so glad she’s here. She’s so perfect. I mean, the blankets are awesome….but she is…..ahhhh….

Absolutely beautiful! God bless all of you

ps… the blankets look so cozy and comfy. love the light red and black polka dots!
They look wonderful. I just want to cuddle them. I bet as those girls grow up those could eventually be used for a shawl, a throw on the couch….how wonderful to keep using a baby blanket throughout your whole life.
