Summer is almost over…..*sigh*….. Remember when you were a kid and summer was just one long, lazy, fun-filled day after another? I remember days spent swimming and exploring and laying in the sun with my friends…remember those days? I miss that, and I’m thinking that before the summer is over, it’s time for some fun. Don’t you agree?
Wanna join me? What sounds like fun to you?

Ahhh… Kathy…
Great question. The six year old is Alive and Well inside me. (in fact THAT is who I REALLY am) A few days ago I got together with three other women friends (one is my Mom(85) , another beautiful spirit (80) and another friend (43). We each brught a picnic lunch to a teeny-tiny beach with no one around but a few sweet sea gulls….I gave each of us a bottle of bubbles (and a tootsie roll pop for later). And said “Let’s pretend each bubble is a ‘care’ that we carry inside us’… and lets blow them out to sea… one by one… We had SUCH a wonderful time doing this!!! I brought my camera and took pictures of these miraculous women in this wonderful moment in time… it delights me to look at the joy on their faces as they blew their cares out to sea….
Thank you Kathy for this great post… and for allowing me to bring back this wonderful memory!
with love…. from Cape Cod… xoxoxo Sandi
Wow! I love your idea, Sandy! I am definitely going to practice the bubble blues away idea…very good. And what a treasured memory you created. I think what I will do for a burst of fun is have a day with my grand daughter this weekend. We will go on a field trip to two places we have both been wanting to check out. One is a Seed Bank which is actually housed in an old bank. They sell heirloom seeds of all kinds. The other place we will go is our Wildlife Rescue Center. Both of these places have been on my bucket list for way too long….the time is NOW!
We walk our dogs in the woods… in every season, but fall is my favorite and now is the time when I first begin to see red and yellow leaves appear on the ground. I just can’t describe in words how much joy this brings to my heart!!!! So that’s what I am secretly doing in my heart for fun… letting summer go and welcoming autumn!

I am going to the State Fair. I haven’t been in years. I plan to go Thursday, just me and my camera and a hunger for corn dogs.
Enjoying the Fall weather as it comes and goes and sneaking off to the beach for the day now that I really appreciate it! Maybe getting all the housework done FAST so it doesn’t stress em out, and getting messy creative with my two little girlie pies! I need to break out of my uptight mama rut. Some paint outside methinks. YES!
what i would like to do today for fun is go for a nice hike in nature…skip down the trail (one that is not rocky), sit and listen to the flowing brook and breath in some good fresh air…that sounds like fun to me…
I am going camping for the next four days with my family. I cannot wait to get into the woods and soak up nature and relax. My soul needs to refuel.
Thank you for this Kathy-I am feeling so overwhelmed at the moment. Our schools start next Wednesday. I moved to a new building and they have no furniture for me. I met my parents and new students at orientation in a big empty room with lots of boxes promising that we’d have desks by Wednesday. I just found out that we won’t! I felt like I wasn’t going to be able to enjoy this official end of summer because of “everything” I “have” to do….and then I read your’s and Melody’s hive post.. started thinking about you all together tomorrow for Brock’s wedding and just like that– I was smiling and putting on some music and trusting that it will all be fine–it always is, I just sometimes forget. But God is good like that because he sends us reminders–thanks for this one!! Enjoy your weekend!!
I am escaping to the beach for a couple of days with my husband. We both work two jobs (one of mine is teaching) and have kids, and we are ready for some time to rest and rejuvenate…just the two of us. “The cure for anything is salt water…sweat, tears, or the sea.”
*hugs* Have a great weekend!
