As a company, we have decided that we are going to take on some new traditions…and we hope you will join us. Each week, everyone in our company will be given 1/2 a day to do & document something really meaningful to them as an individual. We will be posting those things here on the blog and on our other social media outlets. Our goal is not only to encourage and help each of our team members to take some time to document things that are already meaningful, fun, life changing, or even funny….but to also plan to do things that maybe they would not have otherwise made the time to do. Another big goal is to inspire all of you to do the same! One of the things we want to focus on is small acts of service that make a big difference, so that we can all get more ideas for how to be good to each other in the world. Sometimes we will just be doing things we’ve always wanted to do…or life mishaps that have come up and how we chose to deal with them.
We know you will love getting to know our team members better…and you will love being reminded and inspired about how it’s the simple actions that make a meaningful and beautiful life.
We would love it if you joined us in our new Brave Living tradition!!! Just use the hashtag #braveliving and #bravegirlsclub and #getoutandlive we will find you and see what you’re up to as well! And…we just might surprise you every once in a while with some prizes for being a part of this GET OUT AND LIVE revolution! So make sure you use the hashtags!
Ok…here’s my first post for #braveliving !!
I have a heroic single dad in my life….he’s got full custody of 5 kids. It’s a LOT. But he has dedicated his whole life to making their life good, safe, happy and meaningful. He’s tired, as you can imagine. I often get to help him out with the kids; I love them all so much and I’m thankful I get to be part of their life.
Last week for the afternoon I got to spend with them, I really thought about how we could show him some love. We have another tradition around here called LoveStorming…that’s when we show up like a tornado of love, as a group, and do something to help or lift someone’s spirit who is going through a YUCKSTORM.
So I packed up a little bag of cut out hearts and string and cards and I made a little fill-in-the-blank letter that the kids could all put their own thoughts and feelings into. Then….we spent a few hours stringing hearts, writing heartfelt words and decorating his bedroom door.
This was a really fun activity for the kids…they were so totally into it…in a way that I wasn’t even expecting. I really wanted their dad to feel what a hero he is to them, and to have a little reward for all of the sacrifices that he makes for them…..but something just as powerful happened…the kids really WANTED a way to show him this. It was something that they really got into…I didn’t even have to talk the big kids into it….they got into it big time. It was so beautiful to see how healing LOVE can be…to give it and to get it…..
I left before their dad got home…but later that night I got a text from him…
It was worth whatever time it took to do that. I highly recommend getting a bunch of kids in a room to write a letter to their parent(s) or caretakers or anyone…..it’s a beautiful experience for them, for the one they are writing to….and it will be for you too…so here’s the letter, and you’re welcome to use it!
Ok….back to life! I hope you’ll join us with our GET OUT AND LIVE goals….and do some #braveliving of your own. We hope to see you doing it along with us! Stay tuned as the rest of the team shares theirs!
So much love to you all,
