Why Brave Girl’s Club, you ask?
Well, the answer is multi-part. The first answer is…because we want to…and why not spend time doing the things you want to do most? The next answer is….because it needs to be done. We believe this with all of our hearts…we believe there needs to be a place that is full of good news, full of good people, good ideas, good adventures……full of goodness. We are doing this because WE need a place like this to go to.
We are doing this because we believe in the power of being brave….and we believe in the power of being a girl.
We are doing this because we believe that there’s so much to celebrate in life, even when life is difficult. We are doing this because sometimes you can’t get through things alone….and we want to connect brave women to other brave women so that you never HAVE to do anything alone again.
We are doing this because we believe there is a better way…where women can support, lift-up and help each other through life…show each other how to navigate through new and scary things. We are doing this because we want to be part of that better way…
We are doing this because we think that women get bombarded with lots of lies about what life is, what life can be…and what women are and what women can be. We want to expose the truths of life to each other. We want to create a place where you can just be who you are, and dream what you want to dream, and where you feel empowered and uplifted and alive.
We are doing this because we just want to change the world, one BRAVE GIRL at a time.

I feel so honored to be part of the Brave Girls Club in any way. Some very beautiful souls put this together, and your commitment to reaching hurting women and helping them recover and shine through art & sisterhood is inspiring and contagious and so, so needed.
Thank you!
The photo above says it all!! love it!!
I want to get more involved, love your story and reason for it! It is hard to be yourself when so many people are telling you how to be, such as the media, parents, the church, even some of our “friends!” Its so hard to be the “real” you and fit in! I live in a small town where blending in is the norm…well, I’m a mother, wife, artist, winery worker, and creative soul who doesnt want to blend in or follow the so called rules, therefore my path is a bit harder but I wouldnt change it for the world! I am proud of me and so are those closest to me, so I will stay true to myself, even in tough times and because of that be a happier, creative, loud, bright, soul! Which I believe is exactly what Brave Girls is all about and why I love you gals! Keep it up, you inspire many and keep our creative juices flowing and our spirits uplifted! Thanks! I AM a Brave Girl!!!!!!!
I have begun re-writing a novel I wrote six years ago. I’ve been told by friends that it’s a good story and would make a good movie. I need readers to go to my blog and read along as I post my weekly work on re typing this novel into my computer. I am editing as I go. I think if there are women out there who like my story and insist I keep adding chapters to my blog, I will feel compelled to stay with it. Go to http://www.dearmajortom.com and please leave a comment on the blog. THANKS!!! Hope you like my stuff.
I have recently been studying the concept of “Grace.” As part of this study I have become more aware of it in my daily life. I believe that stumbling across your community today has been a HUGE act of Grace that has been sent my way and I am so excited and so grateful! As I have been reading your “Who, what and why” my eyes have filled with tears and I have let out a huge exhale of relief at the idea of such a place, community, gathering of brave, supportive women. I have always believed that women are so resilient and full of love and the world is so in need of places of goodness and creativity. I am so in need of that place. And so I thank you, Melody and Kathy, for being Brave Girls yourself and bringing your dreams into existence! My story is long and I certainly don’t need to tell it all here and now, but I am glad to have found you!
I loooove that photo! It totally captures the essence of being free, alive and loving our lives, as we all should!!! Thank you for doing all that you do to inspire and lift up others. It is amazing.needed.fabulous!
I would love to be part of this group, not only for myself but for some very special friends of mine who are going through hard times at the moment. We live in KwaZulu Natal in South Africa, and as far as I know don’t have this kind of group here. I would appreciate some tips on setting up a local chapter. Thanks for caring so much about what happens to the women around you. I know you will be blessed for that. Regards from the other side of the world.
Lee of Envisage Vintage Jewelry and Deanna Joyce – you’ve expressed my sentiments exactly. Specifically the following:
from Lee, ” creative soul who doesnt want to blend in or follow the so called rules, therefore my path is a bit harder but I wouldnt change it for the world! I am proud of me and so are those closest to me, so I will stay true to myself, even in tough times and because of that be a happier, creative, loud, bright, soul!” And from Deanna, “I believe that stumbling across your community today has been a HUGE act of Grace that has been sent my way and I am so excited and so grateful!” … “My story is long and I certainly don’t need to tell it all here and now, but I am glad to have found you!”
Thank you. Thank you all. Thank you to Cathy and Melody for pressing forward and creating this amazing space and place. And thank you to Lee and Deanna for articulating what probably would’ve taken me hours to come up with ;o)
Perhaps, one day, I’ll be able to share my story. And by sharing my story, I’ll make the burden a little lighter for another Brave Girl.
I’m honored and proud to be a part of this new-founded community. And I’m proud to say, I’m a Brave Girl!
reading and reading for months your blog, and so inspiring, I want to make a change in my community, the girls that I work with at church, i want to do more
I have believed for years that women bonded together could do great things, but have not been able to participate in such a group locally, because of family issues that I must be available to help with. But having found the Brave Girl’s Club online has helped me gain strength and hope that life can be better right now. Thank you all!
I really love your idea of women uplifting, loving and supporting each other. I share the passion for women helping each other and have recently embarked on a journey to live this passion through a creating a blog to help me remember glimpses of love I find daily. Also, I will be moving to Jamaica in January and plan on starting a women’s resource program/center that will help women increase their self-esteem, self-acceptance and find joy. Thank you for your inspiration.
