With the development of the times, people are committed to improving technology and the development of society. The process of chasing more money and more novelties is all profoundly making people feel that this world, this era is changing. What we see and have every day now is almost unimaginable for the past 100 years. But despite all the changes, the patriarchal shackles of the old days still seem to be trapped in the minds of many in the modern era, and many women are still unrecognized, belittled, disrespected, not given the power and status they deserve, and considered by many men as not being equal to them. For women, this is distressing. Because of this, many good women cannot and do not get jobs, and have to choose to live with this life, and psychological pressure.

In this situation, GirlTalkHQ (GTHQ) magazine came into existence. This magazine was founded in 2013 by Asha Dahya, with the aim of providing continuous attention and support to feminist issues and fighting for the rights of women. Like a roof damage repair service that fixes broken roofs, GirlTalkHQ magazine has emerged to repair the inner soul of many women under pressure from a patriarchal society. By providing a variety of carefully selected content, including articles, interviews, etc., it provides a safe and supportive space for women to share their stories and connect with other women to promote women’s empowerment, learning and growth.

In the following article, I will provide a brief introduction to importance of woman empowerment, a simple guide to GirlTalkHQ, which is the magazine devoted to women empowerment, and tell  you why we, and the society, need GirlTalkHQ to exist.

Why woman empowerment important?

roof damage repairIn the past, women had a very low status. Even now, discrimination against women still exists. This discrimination is built on the following points.

Employment sexism discrimination: One manifestation of gender discrimination is job sexism. Women are always put in a sort of awkward situation when asked about their gender. In the workplace, women can be disliked. Some companies often prefer to hire men when their abilities are equal. Women have a hard time getting meaningful positions and are instead excluded from the workplace environment.

Workplace sexism discrimination: Even when they get to the workplace environment, women can still be discriminated against and companies may distrust them and not give them any tasks or deduct their salary in this way. What can happen is that women get paid less than men for the same amount of work. This is discriminatory and hurtful, and is disrespectful to women.

Therefore, woman empowerment is important. It advocates that women should be able to participate equally in every corner of society, and that women can choose to be a housewife or own their own business, and should own their own business and have an equal gender perspective. Women and men, there are no advantages and disadvantages, but just different genders. Unfortunately, few people recognize this concept.

As a young Indian woman born in England and raised in Australia, Asha Dahya had early aspirations to move to Los Angeles and work in television and media, and has hosted and produced shows for networks and platforms such as Fox, MTV, and Disney. As a child, Asha Dahya found herself unable to find an identity. Instead, at the age of 30, she became passionate about women’s rights and feminism, and became part of various women’s networking groups and local feminist organizations in Los Angeles.

Inspired by the many stories of women doing extraordinary things as children who have gone through hardships and overcome desperate times, Asha Dahya started GirlTalkHQ, which portrays many women, female-identified, women of color, and LGBTQ communities who are struggling and facing difficulties in their lives. These are the most neglected and marginalized voices in traditional media. But GirlTalkHQ inclusively provides an outlet for them to have their voices heard.

On the official GirlTalkHQ website, there are many articles discussing different topics, including interviews with famous female celebrities, knowledge about the female body, encouragement and advice for women, sex education, advice and recommendations for women’s work, and recommendations for male celebrities with positive attitudes towards feminism. These articles are profoundly engaging and inspiring for women to think positively about woman empowerment. For women of all ages and backgrounds, the articles on the GirlTalkHQ website provide a valuable resource that help them a lot in their life.

roof damage repairWhy we, and the society, need GirlTalkHQ to exist?

In modern society, many people believe that women need to have more access to society than men and gain the same rights as men. But the truth is, it’s difficult. Women rarely have access to the economic resources, social recognition, but also share the same, if not more, responsibilities as men. For women, the social prejudice against them is enormous. These will have a great negative impact on them.

Despite their wishes, they do not get the respect they deserve. However, as time passes, many women will grow numb. the important thing about Woman empowerment is that it reminds women that they are worthy and that they have a choice. You can be more than a mom. You can be a doctor, a teacher, a scientist, a lawyer, a rapper, etc. You can be anything you want to be. You can be anything you want to be without being tied down to the stereotypes of society. Woman empowerment is essentially a challenge and deconstruction of the old patriarchal mentality that all genders are equal and we don’t need to be bound by prejudices. Even though I can’t change the prejudices of the social team, I want to be firm in my values. And this is one of the most important reasons and responsibilities for the existence of a magazine like GirlTalk HQ in this society. It is important for us, and our kids, and our future. That’s why need it, because it can change our life. When we have firm values, life will become brighter and full of hope.
