How do you motivate yourself to do something important? We’re living at the most uncertain times, and clearly, motivation is so hard to find. But, don’t worry. With just a bit of motivation, you can still achieve whatever it is that you want this year. This is it. Let’s do this!
- Create a song playlist.
In order to motivate yourself, play encouraging songs that keep you going. If you really want to accomplish more things before the year ends, create music playlists that motivate you to make it happen. Choose those songs that will help you get out of bed every morning. Even Meghan Markle does this trick. She said that music encourages her to get out of bed early, go for a run and attend her yoga class. Her top tracks included Janelle Monae and Jackson Five. Powerful songs can instantly change your mood. Music can be uplifting, comforting and fun. It’s energizing impact comes from its ability to engage with our bodies’ sympathetic nervous system.
- Aside from songs, watch videos, too.
You need something that can change the procrastination effect and change your mind. Put together a video playlist that motivates you. This playlist may be composed of transformation videos, or other inspiring situations. Even videos can be life changing. It can be sources of inspiration, propelling people to take on acts of perseverance, willpower and courage.
- Write an action plan.
Do you know that you’re 42% more likely to achieve all of your day-to-day goals if you write them down? Break them down into small simple steps, instead of trying to take a huge goal in a short span of time. Create an action plan. What are you trying to do today? This month? This week? Having a planner will help you monitor your day-to-day plans, as well as the small ways you’re working towards the goals. It will help you motivate yourself to work out, eat right, drink enough water and stick to a plan.
- Develop a regular gratitude practice.
The moment we open our eyes every morning, we’re already aware of all the things we need to do that day. Now, how to stay motivated? Make a list of the things you are grateful for while you’re still in bed. Once we wake up, we’re often too overwhelmed with what we need to fix, and what we need to do. Thus, shifting your focus immediately by acknowledging positive points puts you in a much better mind frame to get through the day.
- Do it, even just for 5 minutes.
Are you in that “lazy phase” where everything seems so impossible? The best thing that you can do is just to get started. Tell yourself that you’re taking on the task even for just 5 minutes. That way, it will be a lot easier to work. This can be really helpful in times of “productivity paralysis.”
