As a modern Mom, you probably have heard of these Mom Bloggers and their little community. Taking care of your kids can be pretty tough, but if you can earn an income while typing away on your laptop at the comfort of your own home, why not give it a shot right? Don’t worry, if you’re afraid or unsure, this article will help ease your worries and show you how easy it is to get started!

Step 1: Find Your Niche

Before you start a blog, you have to know what you’ll be writing about. If you don’t have a niche, you’ll just end up writing whatever that comes into mind, which is much harder to monetize. You can talk about parenting in general, or fashion tips for moms, and so on. Find something you are passionate about and wouldn’t mind writing for a long time.

Step 2: Come Up With A Domain Name

Here’s where your creativity comes into play! Coming up with a name can be difficult, but you can take all the time you need to brainstorm some ideas and decide on the perfect one. Your name could be part of the niche that you’ve chosen. One important tip is to make sure the name you choose is easy to understand to make it easy for people to find your blog or talk about you.

You can check for domain availability on websites such as Exabytes or NameCheap to know whether your domain name is available to purchase or not. This is extremely important while you’re brainstorming since you won’t be able to purchase it if it’s already taken.

Step 3: Choose a Platform To Start Your Blog

Here comes the technical part: setting up your blog! There are many platforms to choose from such as Blogger, WordPress, Wix, to name a few. We recommend going with WordPress though, as it’s the more common option among bloggers. One of the reasons why WordPress would be a better option due to its customizable options. You could easily install a couple of plugins and download premium themes with just a few clicks, and your blog will be good to go!

Step 4: Choose a Website Hosting Company

Okay so you’ve already decided on a domain name and the platform you will be hosting your website, now you have to choose the right hosting company. What in the world is a hosting company? Well, imagine you are renting a house (server) where you store all of your furniture and clothes (files)  inside. But you are not the owner of the house (hosting company), you are simply renting it from someone else. Hence, a hosting company offers you a place to rent your website and store all of your files such as your pictures, articles, and so on.

We highly suggest going for BlueHost if you are a total beginner as they make it easy to get your blog set up instantly. Plus, it is also super easy to navigate around so you won’t get confused about where to go once you login into their dashboard. They can also directly install WordPress for you so you wouldn’t have to do it yourself.

Aside from BlueHost, you can also consider SiteGround and CrazyDomains. It all depends on your budget as well since different hosting companies offer different prices.

Be sure to choose a hosting company that offers 24/7 customer support so that you could reach out to them whenever you are having problems with your website. This would make your life so much easier, especially if you are a non-technical person.

Step 5: Start Writing Content

Now that your website is all set up, you could begin with planning a couple of blog posts. Primarily, you should plan out what kind of content you will be writing and separate them into different categories. That way, it would be more organized and your readers will find it easy to look for what they need.

Step 6: Marketing and Promoting Your Content

There is absolutely no point in writing articles if no one is gonna read them! You have to spend a lot of effort at the start to make sure you are getting some sort of audience. Some of the ways to gain traffic to your blog would be through online marketing such as SEO, Google Ads, and Facebook Ads. You can also build up your online presence through social media, a place where many mothers turn to whenever they need help or advice on something. Once you get stable traffic going, you are able to monetize your blog and start making money.
