Individuals who are having a hard time dealing with workplace stress are exposed to a higher risk of burnout. This can leave you feeling empty, exhausted and unable to handle the challenges of life. Burnout may also be accompanied by a wide range of physical and mental health symptoms. 

The stress that results in burnout may come primarily from your job. Thought patterns and personality traits, like pessimism and perfectionism, can contribute to it as well. 

Several people spend many hours of their life working. If you dread going to work, hate your job and no longer gain any satisfaction out of your routine, it can take a toll on your life.

Are you a pessimistic and sarcastic person by nature? That’s fine, but when your response to almost all things in life, even those that might have been joyful and exciting, is to roll your eyes, you’re clearly getting burned out.

This is the biggest sign of burnout that you’ll surely notice first. Burnout affects day-to-day work tasks, even the ones concerning your family members. If you’re having a difficult time concentrating and practicing creativity, act now. Address this burnout to feel better.  

 

  • You’re overwhelmed at all times.

This is when you feel so overwhelmed, that you can no longer identify ways to break down the tasks in smaller chunks. When you break down tasks in smaller chunks, you can finish them faster. But, what if you can’t do it because of burnout? The result is a million of to-do items and stronger frustration.

Do you wake up in the middle of the evening? Can’t go back to sleep? That is a serious symptom of burnout. You stay up late, and can’t put your phone down. It’s like you can no longer rest your mind and go to bed. It’s like you’re letting exhaustion overtake you. 

 

Why are you experiencing burnout? Here are 5 possible causes: 

 

Lack of support and communication from the people around you. People who feel strongly supported by their loved ones and bosses are 70% less likely to experience burnout on a daily basis. 

Unreasonable time pressure. People who think that they don’t have enough time to finish their tasks are at a higher risk of burnout.

Unmanageable workload. If your workload feels so unmanageable, you’ll surely feel hopeless. The most optimistic, successful employees will experience this. Overwhelming tasks can quickly result in burnout.
