The human body can only take so much. If you push yourself too much, you will get stress, lowering your productivity. People often eat or laze around whenever they get too stressed out which can be bad for your body. Instead, you can start exercising to relieve some of the pent up stress.

Our body is not designed to sit all day, getting up and walking around your office is a good way to reduce stress. The blood flows more efficiently when you move your body around and helps to keep you even more focus on your work. Some exercises are better in relieving stress than others. If you are looking for the best exercises that you can do to relieve stress, here are some of the best that you can do.

How stress is build up

According to MedlinePlus, stress is a feeling of emotions or physical emotion. It comes from events where you feel frustrated, angry or nervous. It is basically your body’s reaction to a challenge or demand. Stress can be a good thing in short bursts, allowing you to be more aware of your actions and the consequences, however, it may be harmful to your health if the stress lasts for a long time.

When your body tends to get stressed easily, it is a symptom of a chronic stress. The body’s nervous system is not efficient in differentiating between emotional and physical threats so it unconsciously heightens your state of stress making it harder to shut off. There are many health problems related to pent up stress such as depression, anxiety, pain, insomnia, skin breakout and cardiovascular disease. However, these are manageable as there are many ways to avoid building up stress for you to have a healthier body. So you need an outlet to release your pent up stress and live with a healthier mind and lifestyle.

Stress relieving workout that you can do

1. Yoga

If you ever asked anyone for help on how to reduce stress, then they will always tell you to do yoga and it really works ! It is an excellent exercise, not to mention that it can help sharpen your mind and increase your focus. Yoga involves a series of stationary and moving poses combined with deep breathing.

The movements of yoga makes you more resilient and flexible, it’s a form of strength training. The mental focus that the exercise provides is what makes it an excellent stress relieving workout. It focuses on your concentration during the exercises instead of worrying, planning or analyzing. Moreover, you easily do this kind of exercise anywhere as it does not require any equipment for you to purchase. Yoga’s appeal is in its flexibility, anyone can do these simple breathing poses and is easy to start as well as incorporate it in your daily life.

2. Tai chi

Taichi originated from china and is one of the most effective exercises for a healthier mind and body. It is an ancient Chinese non-competitive martial art and is known by many because of the benefits it provides. Just like yoga, there are many forms of tai chi, the major ones being Chen, Yang, Wu, and Sun.

The principle of tai chi is the control of movements and breathing. It links the flow of physical movement with breathing, gaining tranquility and a clearer mind. Easy to get into, the exercise improves your strength, fitness, flexibility, immunity, relieves pain and provides you with a higher quality lifestyle. Once you learn the movement and gain the tranquility that it provides, you can learn to throw away the problems and stress that are blocking your productivity and unlock your creativity.

3. Walking

No time for exercising ? Well that should not stop you from having a healthier lifestyle ! If you are a busy man or woman, you can easily release some stress by doing a bit of walking. Walking regularly can help improve your blood flow, clearing your mind from all the pent up stress that you are holding inside you.

For those that work in an office and sit for 9-5 hours a day, taking a walk can help your body to rest so that you can continue your work with maximum productivity. With just 30 minutes of walking everyday, you can improve your fitness, strengthen your bones, reduce body fat and boost your muscle endurance. As an added bonus, walking can also help to decrease your chance of having any cardiovascular disease. Walking is easy and provides a number of health benefits so you should consider it as one of your stress releasing exercises if you are short on time.
