Social Expectations of The House Chores
I believe the majority of us would somehow stick to the society’s perceptions on how women are the one that should have done and dealt with the house chores. But have you ever thought about this deeply? How is it possible to just let and put all of the house chores on a woman alone? Would it be fair?
Back then, we often heard that house chores are supposed to be handled and managed by women due to how they are usually unemployed at home. Not to mention how it became 100% women’s responsibilities too because of how society thinks that they have to do all that as in return to men that have been working so hard the whole day.
However, it is beyond doubt of how things have totally changed nowadays, women are no longer a gender that people used to take on and see as someone that only belongs to home and kitchen. Instead, they are capable of doing things that men are doing too nowadays. Hence why society should stop relying and stick to their old expectation.
What has made it worse is when regardless of how we could see how great women nowadays have achieved in so many things, there are still perceptions going around that women shall stay at home. It is somehow a little bit disturbing because it is supposed to be equal on how women shall be treated, don’t you think so?
How It Should Be
Of course there will be no borderline or clear standard of how women nowadays should be treated. But since women nowadays also have been involved with the corporate world and in line with men, those kinds of perceptions shall be ended. Gender equality would be nice, but since we are talking about house chores and women, I think it’s time for people to actually widen their eyes and perceptions.
It would be nice to have both men and women working together in this, don’t you think so? By all means, house chores especially in a marriage are supposed to be something that can be worked on together. Having a task schedule would be weird, so the best way for this is to work together.
In addition to that, we are also well aware of how both men and women nowadays are capable of being in line in working life, so what is there to question about it again right? Men should have participated in helping women in doing the house chores too. This way could have been better for both of them.
Indeed there are so many ways that we could actually make this work equal so that women don’t have to carry this responsibility alone. This is due to how nowadays, women also could help and be with men in the professional field, so it should not be impossible too for men to do the same as in helping with house chores. Don’t you think so?
The Capability of Women Nowadays
Speaking of the capability of women nowadays, indeed a lot of us now are more ambitious and brave in achieving our own dreams regardless gender. This is why we can still see women in whatever field or position that is filled by a lot of men.
In addition to that, even though women sometimes are still being condemned on how they should stay at home, amazingly they are still able to handle both worlds. As an ambitious woman, and also a super woman that can handle the house chores and their house well. Isn’t that amazing?
Since we are talking about how ambitious they could be, let’s take a lot at what women nowadays have become that put them in line with men:
- Women and heavy duty at home
It is common to hear women cooking, cleaning, sweeping and also settling the laundry is it? In fact, those are the duties that some people would think belong to women. However, not so many people acknowledge that sometimes women do more than that. Heavy duty here totally means something that men should do, but they do it themselves. For example, lifting up the big cooking gas or heavy things, dealing with any leaky things in the house and so many more.
- Work in the same industry as men
Speaking of how women have worked in the same industry with men, this can obviously be seen nowadays. Back then we could only hear of how only men used to work in industries such as engineering, automotive, army, maritime police, lawyers, court judges and even in most production factories. We can now see women get involved with those kinds of fields.
This is in a way so amazing because there is almost nothing impossible for women to get involved and start doing it. Gender wouldn’t be a problem anymore for women to stand up and live their dream and get the exact pay as men can get.
- Independent and brave
This would be the most important part, women capability of doing everything on their own is in a way so amazing. Instead of doing house chores like how society wanted them to do, they actually have done more than that. Women nowadays are also capable of fixing broken things that commonly happen at home and should be handled by men at home.
We could see how women nowadays are being independent in those kinds of things, why did I say that? Because we could see how women can deal with broken things such as broken pipes, broken lamps, broken doors and many other things that usually happen at home.
It is amazing how they could actually go to hardware shops by themselves without help. They now are able to do things such as dealing with the plumbing, maintenance worker and even the wholesale lighting distributor for any broken things without men next to them.
To conclude, that is how society should stop taking house chores as 100% women’s responsibilities, this is because women nowadays are capable of more things that men are doing. So, there will be no harm for men to also participate in helping women in doing house chores isn’t it?
